Online homeless survival and crafting simulator
Hobo: Tough Life is an early access survival simulator from the perspective of a homeless individual. Search for supplies, battle against the elements and construct shelters out of scrap.
Life on the streets
The unique overall theme of Hobo: Tough Life is the homeless aspect, which creates some interesting gameplay aspects. Players must beg in the streets, search bins and generally find a way to survive within a fairly realistic simulation of living on the streets. People may be annoyed or compassionate, police officers may take action if a crime is spotted or look the other way and discarded lottery tickets may earn money. Despite the originality of the game, however, it fails in nearly every technical aspect. Hobo: Tough Life has been in development since 2015 but still feels like a very early alpha. The game runs poorly on all kinds of hardware, crashes are constant and the graphics are dated. Updates are promised by the development team but with such a large amount of work to be done, it is difficult to rationalise purchasing any time soon.
Room to grow
Hobo: Tough Life is a clever concept wrapped in a terrible game. At some point it may become an actual complete product, but it is currently not worth the asking price.
